I had believed and related that info myself in the past but started to question it’s accuracy some years ago and finally feel the correct info has been found. Several guns under 1,000 serial (even one under 100) have been seen that are S, L & LR and that option is listed even in the earliest catalogs but it does state in the earliest catalogs that 22 short would be sent unless S, L & LR was requested. Again, I'll try to get some pictures posted if anyone's interested.Thanks for posting the pictures - that's a nice looking gun - looks to have been left completely original (leave it that way please - and impress that on anyone you plan to pass it down to). I ordered some dummy ammo to test it with before I use real stuff in the gun, but I test loaded the magazines with real ammunition and they seem to work great.I'm hoping to take it out either this weekend or the next. I'm hoping to have my wife re-create it for me with new materials.It might not have come with the rifle, but it fits it like a glove.I just cleaned and oiled the gun last night and the action seems to work great.
